If you’re a Member or Friend of Dr Graham’s Homes UK, you’ve almost certainly heard of Reverend John Webster. John is a former Chaplain and Farm Manager at the Homes. He arrived in Kalimpong in the 1960s and has been a tireless campaigner for our sponsored children ever since. He’s also our Honorary Vice President - a legendary figure in the history of DGHUK (even if he would be too humble to admit it!).

For auction: one special painting

John is currently in the process of moving home. As a result, he kindly offered to sell three DGH-related paintings to raise funds for the Homes. The auction took place at our recent AGM in Edinburgh. But, when bidding closed, one painting remained - an original oil depicting one of the most famous views of the Kalimpong campus. The work was painted for John by one of his former pupils at DGH. It was presented to him as a farewell gift when the Webster family returned to the UK. The painting is framed and dates back to 1986. It measures approximately 73.5cm (29”) wide by 53.5cm (21”) deep. A unique opportunity to own a piece of Homes history of impeccable provenance!

Place a bid, and help raise money for the Homes

Would you be interested in bidding for the painting? If so, please get in touch today. The painting has a reserve price of £100 and the auction runs until 26 June 2024 (John’s birthday!). Bids should be submitted to our Treasurer, Gordon Coupar, at treasurer@drgrahamshomes.co.uk. Good luck!
