Christina was only five years old when she joined Dr Graham’s Homes. Seventeen years on, she has just graduated from college and landed her first job with a major hospitality company.

It’s all thanks to much hard work on Christina’s part – and a little help from the DGHUK Extended Sponsorship scheme.

“I first joined the Homes in Upper Kindergarten after my parents applied for a child sponsorship,” she tells us.

“When I graduated from DGH in 2021, I decided to take a degree in hotel management. My uncle had worked in the hotel industry, and through him I got to know about the opportunities available.

“The UK Committee said they were willing to support me in my studies. They helped me with things like my fees, rent and travel expenses. That was really important for me because the course was expensive. I wouldn’t have been able to do it without the sponsorship.”

Part of Christina’s degree involved a work experience placement with a hospitality group that works across Asia. They were so impressed with her work that they asked her to join their official training scheme after she completed her degree.

“The training programme lasts for a year, and after that I’ll be offered the position of an executive,” she explains. “I’m so grateful for the support DGHUK gave me to do the course. It has given me the opportunity to pursue something I love.”

We’re delighted to hear about Christina’s success. She truly deserves it! We’re really looking forward to hearing more about how she gets on in her new career.
