Earlier this year, we launched our new website with a great story about DGH Bike Ride 2022, a 100-mile Himalayan cycle tour that raised £4,500 for Dr Graham’s Homes.
It was an epic tale of mud, mountains and… bagpipes, as you can read in the report by DGHUK supporter and rider Karen Hills (The most amazing experience of my life, February 2023).
Ten months on, we’re delighted to hear that some of the intrepid survivors are mounting their saddles once again for a reunion tour - this time in Scotland. Fellow rider Carol McLaren has organised a six-day event that will run from New Lanark to South Queensferry, via a circuit of Arran and two UNESCO World Heritage sites.
Starting on Sunday 16 July, the ‘Legacy Ride’ will also take in some destinations with a special connection to Dr Graham, including his one-time home in Cardross. And there will be a meet-up with Rev John Webster, DGHUK Honorary President and creator of the first DGH Kalimpong bike ride fundraisers.
The team will end the tour by meeting Rev Sally Foster-Fulton, Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland and an honorary President of DGHUK. Over lunch, they hope to share some of their experiences from the Himalayan tour, and of the great work being done at the school. We wish them all good luck!
How did the cyclists get on? We’ll be catching up with Carol over the next few weeks to find out how the ride went. Check back for more details…
