Ongdup left DGH in 2021 and is now studying sociology in Chennai, east India.
Ongdup used to live close to the school. When his father broke his leg and was unable to work, Ongdup had to work in the fields with his mother to make ends meet. Because of this, he was struggling with his learning and risked not being able to attend college.
“I learnt so many things in DGH. It is because of the generosity of the DGHUK Committee that I have had this opportunity. My parents cannot afford for me to study in college. [While my father is off work] I have to work in the fields during the day to help feed my family. I have many dreams, but I am not sure now if they can be fulfilled.”
We are pleased to say that his father has now recovered and Ongdup has begun his studies with Loyola College in Chennai, studying Sociology. He is being sponsored from DGHUK funds.
