Anahita has recently graduated from college and hopes to study for a Masters degree in social work.

“I graduated from Loreto College, Kolkata, with a bachelor's degree in Education, after which I decided to get myself enrolled in a Master’s programme in social work. Inspired by the stories of social workers, I was fascinated by the roles they play in improving the lives of people in society. A degree in social work will provide me with the ability to undertake a variety of different professional roles; of those professions, I most look forward to becoming a mental health counsellor. Given the rising mental health issues faced by people in today’s world, I realised the training I will acquire from this course will allow me to help people overcome challenges, obstacles or events that have affected their mental wellbeing and hence I have decided to pursue my career in this field.”

Anahita is now studying for her Masters in Social Work at the Vidyasagar School of Social Work in Kolkata. She is being sponsored by one of the DGHUK trustees.
