Just three when he first came to the Homes, Abhishek is now at college in Kolkata continuing his studies.
Where are you now?
‘After completing [DGH], I got an opportunity to join a recognised and good college – one of the top colleges in Kolkata – with the help of the UK sponsorship Committee. The college is Bhawanipur College, where I have been studying. It provides us with so many extra activities, which open a lot of opportunities for its students; activities like quizzing club, sports club, debating club and much more.’
How are you getting on there?
‘The campus is fabulous, and people around are very friendly. The Bhawanipur College even stretches out to the needy when in times of various disasters, such as blood donations and the like.’
What has Dr Graham’s Homes meant to you?
‘I still reminisce about each and every bit of my time in Dr Graham’s Homes. I wouldn’t say it is my second home – it’s my first home and always will be. It’s an honour and privilege to pass out from such a good school. I am who I am today all because of the love and support I get from my sponsors and from the institute I have passed out from. Thank you so much.’
Cynderella was just a few years old when she arrived at the Homes. Twenty years on, she has moved to Kolkata to continue her studies, thanks to the Extended Sponsorship scheme.
